Garstang Arts and Music Festival 2019 17th to 26th August.
Running from Saturday 17th August to Monday 26th August, bank holiday Monday. This ten day festival of Arts and Music has been running now for twenty five years growing from strength to strength each year with this year promising to be the best yet.
The annual Town Crier competition started in 2011 and now kicking off this years Art Festival on Saturday 17th. After parading around the town in all their finery, the criers, along with their consorts, will compete to win the coveted title of ‘Best Town Crier’ in a colourful and amusing display of this old, very English tradition.
Garstang Art Festival has a varied programme of events catering for all ages and with live outdoor concerts, jazz bands, folk musicians, dancers, street entertainers, art exhibitions and a wide selection of art, craft and music workshops no one need feel neglected.
Garstang Arts Centre will be home to a variety of music concerts, painting exhibitions, poetry recitals, origami, card design workshops and more. John Towers Big Band, who meet at the Arts Centre, are popular regulars and booking for their concerts is recommended.
Street entertainers visit Garstang during the Garstang Art and Music Festival and can be seen at many locations around Garstang. A riot of colourful costumes and wide variety of music.
Local Garstang churches will be offering coffee mornings, craft exhibitions, book fairs, art shows and more.
During the Garstang Arts and Music Festival local Garstang businesses will be displaying art created by local artists and form an Art Trail for the whole family to follow and join in the fun finding the paintings.
Younger visitors are not forgotten during the Festival, the children’s club on weekdays, craft sessions in the local toy shop, ice the muffin at the local cake shop and a variety of fun events for the under fives at Garstang Library and more.
